Apr. 01, 2022 - Apr. 30, 2022
Food for Kids collects food to give to school kids who do not have enough food to get them through the weekends. These children (identified by "Communities in Schools") are often left alone on the weekends as well so are in need of food items that are easily prepared.
For the month of April, Rotary Club of New Braunfels will be doing a food drive. You can bring the items listed below to the meetings with you on any and hopefully all Wednesdays in April. I am hopeful that we can blow this organization away with the amount of food that our Club donates.
Here is a list of the items they are looking for:
Our club does a lot of great things that make a difference all around our community.
Personally I think one of the most important things we can do is to make sure the kids in our community have enough to eat. Kids who don't have enough to eat come to school and fall asleep in class and have more behavioral issues than those that do. We have the opportunity to change that for some of these kids.
Please be keeping these items in mind when you go to the grocery store this month.
We do not "pass the bucket/hat" at our meetings by club choice. If you forget to bring the food items, or you would like to make a donation to this organization (which is a 501C3) you will have that opportunity as well.
On April 13th the kids that started this chapter will be doing a 2-3 minute presentation to the club. They are also going to be filling out a Rotary grant application for when those come open again later in the year.
If anyone has any follow up questions about this, please feel free to reach out to me. Happy to get those answers for you. Thanks for your help with this project and for helping meet an important and basic need in our community.
-Chris
